Our National Thrusts

TLOD is a non-profit humanitarian service organization with five major program thrusts and many ongoing projects. 

Top Teens of America

Top Teens of America empowers youth through enriching activities that promote growth in education, social skills, morality, spirituality, culture, and economic awareness, fostering their potential for a successful future. 

Community Service is the Goal of the Program and the purpose is as follows:

  • Foster appreciation for ethnic and cultural heritage.

  • Inspire pride in oneself, home, and community.

  • Promote participation in workshops addressing current trends.

  • Cultivate social skills, leadership, and fellowship.

  • Collaborate with organizations to achieve shared goals.

  • Support high academic achievement.

  • Advocate for senior citizens, women’s status, community beautification, and partnerships.

Status of Women

This thrust empowers women and teens to improve their economic standing through employment. “Back-to-Work” aids women re-entering the workforce and prepares teens for jobs. "I Will Survive" raises breast cancer awareness, enhancing women’s status through growth and opportunity. 

This program will assist in: 

  • Preparing the job seeker for the job market

  • Providing venues for job seekers to acquire new skills

  • Budgeting                       

  • Selecting and providing appropriate attir

  • Assisting with interview preparation, resume writing, etc.

  • Workplace Etiquette

  • Promoting self-worth and self-estee

  • Continuing Education 

Community Parterships

This thrust builds partnerships with corporations, government, and community organizations to address key issues for youth and adults. The signature program, “Joining Forces,” enhances services by expanding TLOD’s reach and impact through collaborative, flexible, and accountable efforts.

Senior Citizens

This thrust focuses on enriching the lives of senior citizens, ensuring they remain vital members of their communities while preserving their dignity and well-being. The signature program, “We Care,” supports seniors in assisted living facilities and nursing homes with impactful initiatives. This program will assist and enrich seniors in the following areas: 

  • Promote safety in the home and community.

  • Facilitate social engagement and activities.

  • Provide health information and screenings.

  • Offer companionship and caregiving support.

  • Support retirement planning and preparation.

  • Deliver computer and internet training.

  • Advocate for legislation that protects senior citizens' well-being.

Community Beautification

Garden Pond

This thrust focuses on enhancing communities through beautification, green living, and eco-friendly practices. The signature program, “America the Beautiful,” educates residents on adopting healthier, sustainable lifestyles, fostering awareness for a cleaner, greener future. 

Some examples include, but is not limited to the following:

  •  Planting and Maintaining Community Gardens;

  • Planting Trees and Shrubs          

  • Graffiti Removal, Community Clean-up           

  • Recycling/Repurposing  Projects

TLOD Projects

National Association for the Advancement of Colored People

To assist and support the NAACP’s mission by advocating its causes through education and action.

Literacy

Encourage chapters to actively participate in and promote literacy through economics, education, and technology.

Sickle Cell Disease Awareness

Raise awareness of Sickle Cell Disease and support efforts to improve care, services, and funding for a cure.

United Negro College Fund

Promote UNCF and HBCUs by supporting scholarships, donating, and helping youth apply, attend, and graduate.

National Council of Negro Women

To assist the NCNW with its mission to lead, develop, and advocate for women of African descent as they support their families and communities.
